Glock guns

Holy cow has it been some time since I last blogged about camping gear! I'm really sorry. The camping gear site has taken off and I have been getting requests from some camping equipment manufacturers to turn it into an online camping gear store. Not to sure if I want to have set up an e-commerce site and deal with sales. Kinda just like freely writing about outdoor gear! If I do though, I have already found a great cheap web hosting company that will host it for me, HostMonster. They have everything you could want if you were thinking of starting an online camping gear store!

Today's camping gear product that I am going to talk about could be considered more of police gear. It's the Glock handguns. The reason why I am going to talk about the Glock handguns is because campers sometimes carry guns with them for their protection. They are even popular for hunting.

Glock guns are some of the best handguns made. There are Glock 40 s, Glock 9mm handguns, and even baby Glocks! Baby Glocks are not for babies, they are smaller versions of the Glock guns. Glock guns are very accurate and reliable. Best Camping Gear Reviews owns a Glock 27 and Glock 22. They have few pieces to them so there is a less chance of breaking. What are the prices of Glock guns? They range from about $400 to $600 depending on the sights you get. If you are in the market for a new handgun, definately check out the Glock guns! They can be found at almost all police supply stores.

Best Camping Cooler; Coleman Xtreme cooler!

One of the most important pieces of camping gear that I own is my Coleman Cooler. I think the importance of having a cooler as part of your camping equipment goes without saying. I currently own the 62 quart wheeled Xtreme cooler by Coleman and love it.

The Coleman Xtreme cooler can store ice for up to 5 days at temperatures in the 90 degree range. As I mentioned earlier, I have the Xtreme cooler with wheels on it. It has two large wheels that make it very easy to transport. Using the tow handle makes this a synch to move around all the beautiful campgrounds that I visit. Now, I have to admit that I like to drink a cold one around the fire or on the lake when I fishing. What’s nice about the Coleman Xtreme cooler that I have is that it can hold up to 85 cans! I haven’t tried to fill it that much yet because the wife would not be too happy that she can’t fit all her stuff in their for her favorite Dutch Oven recipes. One day I will!

The Coleman Xtreme cooler comes in the following sizes: 36 quart, 52 quart, 62 quart with wheels, 70 quart, 100 quart, and 100 quart with wheels. I bought mine at one of my local camping gear stores for about $80.00. Coleman coolers are worth every penny!

What’s nice about this piece of camping gear, is that like my Brunton binoculars, I can use it for more than just camping gear. I can take it to the beach, the park, or anywhere that I need a cooler.

Well now for some more great news, in addition to being an avid camper, I absolutely love golf. Prior to my current job, I was in the golf industry for about 9 years. After having so many of my friends ask me questions about golf equipment, I finally decided to put together a golf equipment reviews website. Check it out. It’s going to have some great information on it about all the best golf clubs including TaylorMade golf clubs and Ping golf clubs.

Bushnell Excursion binoculars

All too often people pack their camping gear, head to one of their favorite campgrounds, and realize they forgot something. More often than not, it was their binoculars that they forgot. Binoculars aren’t like most pieces of camping equipment where you can just head to the local camping gear store near the campground and replace them. Binoculars can cost a lot of money sometimes. Binoculars range in price from $30.00 to $2,500.00!

Best Camping Gear Reviews likes the Bushnell binoculars. We get to use the Bushnell binoculars more than the average camper. The reason is because we are police officers and used our Bushnell binoculars as pieces of our police equipment. Binoculars come in handy as police gear and camping gear.

There is nothing better than taking a long nice hike and finding a secluded mountain peak with beautiful views. Using some binoculars will allow you see some amazing things! Just remember to take your Garmin GPS with you so that you don’t get lost!

Garmin Oregon GPS devices

As we start 2009, new camping gear is being introduced almost daily. Camping equipment manufactures are always pushing the technology limits and coming up with better camping gear. The other day I was at one of my local camping gear stores and saw the new Garmin GPS devices. The Oregon Series by Garmin has some great features.

The Garmin Oregon 200 GPS is a little over 4” tall and 2” wide. It features a 3” 65k TFT touch screen display, 400 x 200 pixel output, and a USB cable for easy downloads. The Oregon 200 is a rugged, touch screen, reliable GPS device. With new programs installed on the device, this is a very user friendly handheld GPS device. Coleman Lanters

When it comes to camping gear, Coleman makes some of the best camping equipment. They have been in business for a very long time and have worked hard at maintaining their reputation as one of the best camping gear manufactures. Coleman manufactures everything from Coleman coolers, camping tents, camping stoves, Coleman flashlights, sleeping bags, and Coleman lanterns.

The Coleman lanterns are great when you don’t want to carry around a Streamlight flashlight all night at the campground. The Coleman lanterns come in several different styles and price ranges. None of the Coleman lanterns are that expensive.

Some of the most popular Coleman lanterns are fueled by propane, gas, or kerosene. Not much difference in any of them. The propane lanterns are very popular because of the ease of getting a small propane tank.

So the next time you are at your local camping gear store, make sure you take a look at the Coleman lantern.

Dutch ovens

Best Camping Gear Reviews loves Dutch ovens. For those of you that don't know what a Dutch oven is, A Dutch oven is a thick-walled iron (usually cast iron) cooking pot with a tight-fitting lid. It is commonly referred to as a "camp oven" in the Australian bush, "cocotte" in French, and as a "casserole dish" in British English. Dutch ovens are very common as camping gear and camping equipment.

There are many Dutch oven manufactures. Perhaps the best Dutch oven manufacture is Lodge Logic. Lodge Logic makes several good Dutch ovens in different sizes. The most popular Lodge Logic Dutch oven is the 6 quart model. The Dutch oven is made of cast iron for added durability, but is a bit on the heavy size as a result of the cast iron. The Lodge Logic Dutch oven can be purchased at your local camping gear stores such as R.E.I. or Cabelas.

Best Camping Gear Reviews has recently added a section to the camping equipment site specifically for Dutch oven recipes. As time passes, Best Camping Gear Reviews will have chicken, meat, desert, and many more Dutch oven recipes listed. If you have a favorite Dutch oven recipe, please email it to us.

Kelty Camping tents

One of the most important pieces of camping gear is a camping tent. Without a good camping tent, you camping experience can be miserable. There are several good camping equipment manufactures that make good camping tents. A few of those manufactures are Big Agnes, Kelty, Bibler, and Columbia Sportswear.

My favorite camping tent manufacture is Kelty. I believe that Kelty camping tents are some of the best tents made. Kelty has been making camping equipment since the early 1950’s. They have continued to make their products better since the beginning.

My favorite Kelty camping tent is the Gunnison 3.1 tent. The Gunnison has recently been redesigned to give it better construction and more user friendly. The tent features color coded clip construction and a quick two pole setup. The Gunnison 3.1 tent can easily accommodate 3 campers!

I really like the Kelty Gunnison 3.1 camping tent. It is spacious, good looking, and provides great shelter.

Ketly camping tents can be purchased at all the major camping gear stores including Cabelas, REI, and many more!

Brunton Eterna binoculars

Sorry that there hasn't been a post for a few days. I have been out of town for work and just haven't found the time to write about any camping gear. Recently I was at my local REI camping gear store and saw the Brunton binoculars. I have only owned Bushnell binoculars in the past but really liked the look of the Brunton binoculars. REI carried several different models that ranged in price from $48 to over $1,000. Some people might think that spending $1,000 for a pair of binoculars is crazy, but it all depends on what your need is. I know a few people that have expensive binoculars that are police officers and they use them daily as part of thier of police equipment.

The Brunton binoculars that I really liked were the Brunton Eterna 8 x 45 binoculars. The binoculars are nitrogen filled to ensure a stable interior environment for fog-free, waterproof protection. Other features include emerald fire fully multi-coated optics that block out harmful UV rays and increase light transmission by reducing reflected light, and Bak-4 roof prisms that offer excellent light transmission for sharp images. Perhaps the greatest feature is the constuction of the Brunton Eterna binoculars is that they are made wth an alloy and polymer frame that has an ergonomic rubber armor to protect the binoculars from bumps and falls while providing a good grip. I really think I'm going to splurge and add these binoculars to my collection of outdoor gear.

The Bruton Eterna binoculars cost about $400 from REI but I'm going to look at some other camping equipment stores in the area such as Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas. I might even head down to the local San Diego police equipment store and see if they carry the Bruton binoculars. I will keep you posted on this purchase!

Camping gear in 2009

To start off with, I hope everybody had a good New Years and a great 2009! Best Camping Gear Reviews is going to really take off in 2009. We plan to review some of the best camping gear and some of the most affordable camping gear. With the current economic situation in the US, buying camping gear might not be on everybody's to do list. Hopefully, after reading our camping equipment reviews you will be able to make some more educated decisions when you are ready to buy camping gear.

Camping tents are one of the most common bought pieces of outdoor gear. There are so many manufactures that one can get confused. From the outside, Kelty tents, Bibler tents, and Big Agnes tents all look the same. But are they really? No. It is very important that when you are buying a camping tent you understand how to pick out a camping tent. Camping tents are rated for varying weather conditions and their size.

Two other features that Best Camping Gear Reviews has started and will continue to develop in 2009 are a campgrounds directory and camping gear store directory. Both directory are going to list the best campgrounds and camping gear stores around the United States and Canada.

Make sure you check back often!

Camp Chef camping grill

A lot of people forget to pack a grill in their camping gear when they head off to the campground. They automatically assume that thier campsite will have a cooking grill. Well sometimes they don't have one or it is extremely dirty.

One of my favorite pieces of camping equipment is the Camp Chef grill. Best Camping Gear reviews has used and tested the Camp Chef Pro 90 cooking grill. The Camp Chef Pro 90 is a 3 burner camping grill. With three 30,000 BTU burners, this is the biggest camping grill that Camp Chef makes.

What we really liked about the grill was the size of it. It is almost the size of our large Igloo cooler! We had about 10 people at our campsite for the weekend and we always had plenty of room on the grill for everybody's food.

The Camp Chef Pro 90 camping grill is availble at most major camping gear stores like Bass Pro Shops or REI. The Camp Chef Pro 90 costs about $311.00.

Best Camping Gear Reviews highly recommends the Camp Chef grills.

Aerobed Air Mattresses

A lot of campers will say that you aren't truly camping if you have an mattress as part of your camping gear. Those are probably the same people that say put away your Kelty tent and sleep under the stars in your Slumberjack sleeping bag.

Well, I disagree! If I'm going camping, I'm going to have a little comfort also. Just last summer I purchased an Aero Products air mattress. Thier air mattresses are called the Aerobed air mattresses. I am very glad that I bought one of these to add to my collection of camping equipment.

The first night that I used it, I slept like a baby. The air mattress is durable, sturdy, and very comfortable. It sits about 9" off the ground and compacts very easily. The air mattress is also very easy to inflate and deflate.

I purchased my Aerobed air mattress at one of my local camping gear stores. I know that large camping equipment stores such as REI, Cabelas, and Sports Authority carry air mattresses also.

Have a great Holiday!

Camping gear for christmas gifts!

As we approach Christmas and start to scrabble for some last minute gifts, I decided to compile a list of my five favorite camping gear stocking stuffers. I want you to know that finding camping equipment small enough to fit into a stocking isn’t that easy!

1) Garmin GPS devices. Garmin is one of the biggest manufactures of GPS devices. These devices are great for campers because they are compact and provide easy directions to the campgrounds. Because some models are handheld, these are also great for taking on hikes. The Garmin GPS devices cost between $100.00 and $600.00.

2) Streamlight Stinger flashlight. Streamlight flashlights are highly regarded as the best flashlight in almost all camping gear reviews. The Stinger flashlight is a great compact rechargeable flashlight. The Stinger has 125 lumens and is about 6” long. The Streamlight Stinger flashlight costs about $75.00.

3) Casio Pathfinder hunting timer watch. This Casio watch features five alarms, digital display, and is backlit for easy reading. The Pathfinder watch is water resistant to 100 meters. The Casio Pathfinder watch costs about $49.99.

4) 5.11 Tactical Gear socks. While getting socks for Christmas might be the most exciting gift, they can sure safe your feet on hikes! 5.11 Tactical Gear started out making the socks for police officers since they are on their feet so much. Since then, they have become popular by just about everyone, including campers. They socks are constructed with multiple zones of compression and fabric blends for increased blood circulation, heat reduction, and moisture wicking. 5.11 Tactical Gear socks can be found at some camping gear stores and all police equipment stores. The 5.11 Tactical Gear socks cost between $9.99 and $19.99.

5) You can never go wrong with a gift card to your favorite camping gear store like REI or Cabelas. Gift cards allow the person to pick out their favorite camping equipment without the hassle of having to return a gift.

I hope this list gives you some more ideas for camping equipment stocking stuffers! Have a great holiday!

Streamlight flashlights

Flashlights are a very important piece of camping gear. There are many types of flashlights available and not all of them are good. Streamlight flashlights and MagLite flashlights are two of the best flashlights available to campers. While both brands of flashlights are known for making some of the best police flashlights, they are great for camping.

Streamlight flashlights offer many types of flashlights. They offer rechargeable and battery operated flashlights in many different sizes. If you are going camping to a campground that has no power to recharge the flashlight, then a battery operated flashlight is best for you. The prices of Streamlight flashlight vary from $15.00 to $125.00. No matter what price you pay it is worth it. Streamlight flashlights can be purchased at your local camping gear store or police equipment store.
