Discount camping gear

Best Camping Gear Reviews gets asked a lot about how to find discount camping gear or used camping gear. While both types of camp gear are similar because they are less than the more expensive camping gear, they are different topics. In today’s Best Camping Gear Reviews article, we are going to discuss ways that you can find discount camping gear.

We all know how expensive camping gear can be. Take a look at the Kelty camping tents. While they are one of the best camping tents, they are also on the high side of the price range. With our three secret tips on how to find discount camping gear, you might be able to find a cheap Kelty tent!

Best Camping Gear Reviews 3 tips to finding discount camping gear:

1) Check your local advertisements for camping gear specials. In today’s economy most businesses are hurting for sales. The camping gear stores are no different. I look in the Sunday advertisements and always find great deals on camping gear. The other day, I found Coleman coolers for 30% off! That’s a great discount camping gear price.

2) Look in the “bargain basement” at your local camping gear stores. A lot of times you can find last years camping gear or outdoor clothing at a huge discounted price. Is there really a big difference between last years Sierra Designs sleeping bags and this years? Probably not.

3) Shop on line. There are a lot of good camping gear stores that strictly sell on line. This keeps their overhead costs down and keeps their prices cheaper. A lot of times you might have to pay a small shipping fee, but you avoid the sales tax most of the time. Don’t worry about returns because almost every reputable online camping gear store accepts returns without problems.

We hope that these 3 tips on how to find discount camping gear is helpful to you!

Camp Chef camping grill

A lot of people forget to pack a grill in their camping gear when they head off to the campground. They automatically assume that thier campsite will have a cooking grill. Well sometimes they don't have one or it is extremely dirty.

One of my favorite pieces of camping equipment is the Camp Chef grill. Best Camping Gear reviews has used and tested the Camp Chef Pro 90 cooking grill. The Camp Chef Pro 90 is a 3 burner camping grill. With three 30,000 BTU burners, this is the biggest camping grill that Camp Chef makes.

What we really liked about the grill was the size of it. It is almost the size of our large Igloo cooler! We had about 10 people at our campsite for the weekend and we always had plenty of room on the grill for everybody's food.

The Camp Chef Pro 90 camping grill is availble at most major camping gear stores like Bass Pro Shops or REI. The Camp Chef Pro 90 costs about $311.00.

Best Camping Gear Reviews highly recommends the Camp Chef grills.

Aerobed Air Mattresses

A lot of campers will say that you aren't truly camping if you have an mattress as part of your camping gear. Those are probably the same people that say put away your Kelty tent and sleep under the stars in your Slumberjack sleeping bag.

Well, I disagree! If I'm going camping, I'm going to have a little comfort also. Just last summer I purchased an Aero Products air mattress. Thier air mattresses are called the Aerobed air mattresses. I am very glad that I bought one of these to add to my collection of camping equipment.

The first night that I used it, I slept like a baby. The air mattress is durable, sturdy, and very comfortable. It sits about 9" off the ground and compacts very easily. The air mattress is also very easy to inflate and deflate.

I purchased my Aerobed air mattress at one of my local camping gear stores. I know that large camping equipment stores such as REI, Cabelas, and Sports Authority carry air mattresses also.

Have a great Holiday!

Camping gear for christmas gifts!

As we approach Christmas and start to scrabble for some last minute gifts, I decided to compile a list of my five favorite camping gear stocking stuffers. I want you to know that finding camping equipment small enough to fit into a stocking isn’t that easy!

1) Garmin GPS devices. Garmin is one of the biggest manufactures of GPS devices. These devices are great for campers because they are compact and provide easy directions to the campgrounds. Because some models are handheld, these are also great for taking on hikes. The Garmin GPS devices cost between $100.00 and $600.00.

2) Streamlight Stinger flashlight. Streamlight flashlights are highly regarded as the best flashlight in almost all camping gear reviews. The Stinger flashlight is a great compact rechargeable flashlight. The Stinger has 125 lumens and is about 6” long. The Streamlight Stinger flashlight costs about $75.00.

3) Casio Pathfinder hunting timer watch. This Casio watch features five alarms, digital display, and is backlit for easy reading. The Pathfinder watch is water resistant to 100 meters. The Casio Pathfinder watch costs about $49.99.

4) 5.11 Tactical Gear socks. While getting socks for Christmas might be the most exciting gift, they can sure safe your feet on hikes! 5.11 Tactical Gear started out making the socks for police officers since they are on their feet so much. Since then, they have become popular by just about everyone, including campers. They socks are constructed with multiple zones of compression and fabric blends for increased blood circulation, heat reduction, and moisture wicking. 5.11 Tactical Gear socks can be found at some camping gear stores and all police equipment stores. The 5.11 Tactical Gear socks cost between $9.99 and $19.99.

5) You can never go wrong with a gift card to your favorite camping gear store like REI or Cabelas. Gift cards allow the person to pick out their favorite camping equipment without the hassle of having to return a gift.

I hope this list gives you some more ideas for camping equipment stocking stuffers! Have a great holiday!

Igloo Cube Top cooler

Recently I had to buy a new camping cooler so I went to the local camping equipment store and took a look at the coolers that they had in stock. They had a few brands that included Igloo coolers, Thermo coolers, and Coleman coolers. While the Coleman coolers have a long tradition of being some of the best camping coolers, I liked the Igloo Cube Top cooler the best.

The Igloo Cube Top cooler that I choose was the Max Cold 70 Roller. This cooler has features such as a triple snap drain plug, 5 day chill rating, and can hold about 101cans. The feature that I like the most about the Max Cold 70 cooler is the fact that it has wheels and a telescoping handle. This makes it so easy to move around the campground.

A lot of campers will tell you that a good cooler is a key part of camping gear. If you don't have a good cooler, you food gets spoiled and there goes your camping trip! Overall, I think this is one of the best camping coolers and definatley worth adding to your collection of camping equipment.
